Our History

Mr Kevin Barron and Mrs Sadie Barron (nee Narrier) had a dream of having a family farm business for their families and future generations. Beemurra Aboriginal Corporation was formed in 1998 and the property, Yallalie Downs, was divested to the corporation in 2001. This was made possible through Mrs Barron’s connection to the country.

Mrs Barron was a Yued Noongar woman born at Summer Hill on the outskirts of Walebing (7km south of Waddington). She lived with her mum, dad, brothers and sisters. Kevin and Sadie met when they were young; they married and became loving parents to Dorinda, Sheldon and Cherrie. Sadly, in August 1996, Kevin and Sadie tragically lost their son Sheldon.

Many families have lived on the farm over the years. Many relatives who were members of the corporation also worked on the property and did so for many years. During the early years of the corporation, it ran a small herd of goats from patrol stations north of WA. Sadly, Sadie passed away in January 2005. Mr Barron continued and step by step overcame many obstacles, both emotional and financial. In 2014, members of the corporation explored the idea of running a small cattle backgrounding business. In moving forward, Beemurra sowed its first lot of perennials and built new cattle stock yards in 2017.
